The setting highlights Polish poppy-seed makowiec roll, close portrait of the cut and spiral, on a wooden board or ceramic plate with pale linen in warm natural light. The oblong loaf has a glossy golden-brown crust; the slices show a tight, very dark poppy-seed spiral, sometimes under a thin drizzle of pale glaze.
